This is why we call them the Anti-Christian Leftists United

Post by Gregory of Yardale

ACLU now supports prior censorship of free speech that is even potentially religious.

The ACLU sued a school district in Florida … where the athletic director and a principal have been actually jailed for saying grace over a meal* … and the school gave into their usual demand that every expression of Christian faith be prohibited and stigmatized, including barring openly Christian students from even speaking at school events.

[T]he district also agreed (to the ACLU’s demand) to forbid senior class President Mary Allen from speaking at the school’s May 30 graduation ceremony on the chance that the young woman, a known Christian, might say something religious…

In other words, if you are a Christian, the ACLU is officially on board with prohibiting you from speaking your mind before you even have a chance to  open your mouth. Just being a Christian is enough justification to have your free speech rights taken away, according to the ACLU.

But ACLU supports the “right” of NAMBLA to distribute instructions on how to rape children.

ACLU Logic: NAMBLA Good, Christians Bad

ACLU Logic: NAMBLA Good, Christians Bad

What do you think would happen to a Muslim, a Pagan, or a Jew that said a prayer at a school event? Absolutely freaking nothing, that’s what would happen. The school district might even win an award for ‘encouraging diversity and tolerance.’

Worse, what do you think would happen to a school district that tried to prevent a member of one of these groups from speaking?

It’s like the school doesn’t understand that they’re actually encouraging their young charges to adopt a double-standard. Or worse, maybe it does.

“Remember kids, it’s still OK to discriminate against Christians. Nobody else is interested in standing up for their rights or on their behalf. If they themselves don’t sue, no one will.”

The consent decree is a matter of public record. Look it up and read it. It says nothing about the senior class president, or Mary Allen, or about “known Christians” speaking.

Either Mary Allen was scheduled to give a prayer (which is not allowed), or the school district ‘misinterpreted’ the consent decree.

    • Section 1 of the decree defines prayer as any discussion of any Diety. Section 5 sections (g) and (h) prohibit the school from allowing anyone to speak at any school function who might invoke “prayer” previously defined as any discussion of the Deity.

Was the school being overcautious? Given the litigiousness of the ACLU, one can hardly say so.

And my contention that the ACLU protects child rapists and persecutes Christians still stands.

    • Also, this is a rhetorical trick ACLU apologists always play, claiming, “We didn’t explicitly forbid that,” knowing damn well the threat of a lawsuit hang over the school administrator’s heads if they don’t aggressively censor Christianity. There is no penalty for being too restrictive of Christian speech, but there is the omnipresent threat of litigation for not being restrictive enough.

      The ACLU is plain evil.

Section 5 (g) and (h) of the consent decree are not that hard to understand, and are perfectly fair. If (and only if) the school exercises control over what the speaker says, then prayer is out.

Also, the ACLU only protects child rapists to the extent that it protects everyone else (including Christians): by defending their fundamental rights. And the ACLU has defended Christians’ rights in many cases. It only “persecutes” Christians when they try to use government power to force their beliefs on others. If that’s evil, then I guess evil is a good thing.

Section 5 (g) and (h) of the consent decree are not that hard to understand, blah blah blah, some other made-up crap…

The very fact that you call yourself “ACLU member” sort of torpedoes your credibility. The organization has sort of a reputation for arguing on behalf of dangerous persons and against the God-fearing.

Being a card-carrying member of the ACLU is not exactly a badge of honor. Just ask Michael Dukakis.

What is with the swarm of left-wingers on this site lately? Or are you that same snot-nosed punk who tried to ram government-run health insurance down our throat a few days ago?

The ACLU has also argued on behalf of Jerry Falwell, Oliver North, and others that you probably approve of.

That you don’t consider being a card-carrying member of the ACLU to be a badge of honor is duly noted.

And I’m sorry if you are upset that people who aren’t right-wingers visit your site. I’ll leave now.

Aww…and we were having so much fun.

A brilliant quote from the comments section of the article linked-to above:

“Trolls are to commentary sites what seminar callers are to Conservative talk shows. The seminar callers/comments trolls whine that their “differences of opinion” draw fire and that they aren’t taken seriously…well, think about it seminar commenters (and you know who you are): This is a CONSERVATIVE SITE, and Conservatives come here to discuss issues and try to influence policy on our side of the aisle. YOU come here to further Obama’s discredited policies and “hope and change” fascism, and you get upset when we point that out? GROW UP!”

Took the words right outta my mouth. Why leftists insist on hanging around conservative websites is a mystery to me…unless it is for some nefarious purpose.

  8. Also, the ACLU only protects child rapists to the extent that it protects everyone else (including Christians): by defending their fundamental rights.

Complete bull. The ACLU is extremely selective about which “fundamental rights” they defend. They have never taken a case defending anyone’s second amendment rights, for example. Nor do they defend the free speech rights of anti-abortion protesters. Nor did they sue when California public schools incorporated Islamic studies into their curriculum.
