Democrats Push for Too Much, Too Fast

There’s an old expression, “Get greedy, get caught.” It means your chances of getting busted for breaking the law increase in direct proportion to the degree od offense. For example, if you’re doing 70 in a 65 zone, you’re probably okay. If you’re doing 90 in a 65 zone, you’re probably going to get a ticket.

What the Democrats have done with their power is roughly equivalent to speeding at 140 MPH ahead of a multi-state police chase while throwing crack vials out the window every few minutes towing a banner reading “FUK DA POLICE.”

Democrats got greedy. Instead of governing moderately, they have undertaken to pursue a radical reshaping of society. Instead of passing a reasonable bill supporting clean energy development through subsidies and tax incentives, they pass a massive Cap and Trade monstrosity 1,400 pages long with massive new regulations (you won’t be able to sell your house without approval from an environmental bureaucrat) loaded with payoffs to their cronies and supporters; like the earlier Stimulus Bill. For that matter, the Stimulus could have been half the size and entirely devoted to infrastructure repair.

And now, they are pushing for a radical restructuring of the Health Care system, when merely expanding MedicAid would have been more moderate.

Not that any of these would have been good policies, necessarily, but they wouldn’t have been radical policies, and it’s the radicalism of the Democrat agenda that is making voters uncomfortable. The Democrats have tried to do too much, too fast and the voting public is being reminded that Republicans — flawed though they are — provide a vital check on letting one party gain too much power.

And instead of moderating their approach, the radical left Democrat leadership would rather buy off the moderates with taxpayer money. Although this may win them legislative battles in the short term, in the long run, it may backfire on them by further stirring public sentiment against one-party rule.
