Chairman Zero on the Couch

Some douchebag MSM reporter (Todd or Tim Purdum or something) wrote a hit-piece on Sarah Palin for Vanity Fair in which he alleges that “several” (unnamed of course) sources told him they looked up “Nacissistic Personality Disorder.” and accused Sarah P of having it. I thought there was someone else on the national political stage who better fit the clinical description of this disorder, but I looked it up first just to be sure.

Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is defined by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders as “a pervasive pattern of grandiosity, need for admiration, and a lack of empathy.” Narcissistic personality disorder is closely linked to self-centeredness. It is also colloquially referred to as “the God complex.” It is indicated by five (or more) of the following criteria:

1. A grandiose sense of self-importance

Like, maybe accepts his nomination on a Greek Temple set in a stadium in front of 80,000 people?

2. Preoccupation with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty or ideal love (megalomania)

Like he thinks he is going to CHANGE the world by force of personality alone?

3. Belief that he or she is “special” and can only be understood by, or should associate with, people (or institutions) who are also “special” or of high status.

Like he compares himself to FDR and Lincoln? Or is perfectly comfortable in the presence of thug despots like Chavez and the Mullahs?

4. Requires excessive admiration

Like maybe he forms a cult around him? Like he stacks his “town hall” meetings with pre-screened sycophants who will only ask approved questions.

5. Has a sense of entitlement

Like maybe he thinks laws don’t apply to him? Like he can fire inspectors general and break legal contracts at will? Like maybe he keeps the White House warm enough to grow orchids while lecturing others on the need to reduce energy consumption?

6. Is interpersonally exploitative

Like, he’d throw his own grandmother under a bus to advance his political career?

7. Lacks empathy

Like maybe dining on Wegyu steaks, taking expensive weekend trips to New York and vacations on Martha’s vineyard while nearly 7,000,000 people are out of work? Like going out for ice cream while people are being clubbed to death in Tehran? Like voting to leave babies to die after botched abortions?

8. Envies others or believes others are envious of him or her.

Like his entire political philosophy is based on envy of people who are perceived to have more than other people?

9. Shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes

“I won.”

Pretty much any politician, anyone who seeks public office, anyone who seeks to control other people has some sort of ego disorder. But Sarah Palin’s ego is a bonsai tree compared to the mighty Sequoia that is Obama’s.

Can Robert Smith save us from Obama's Ego?

  1. The Mole

Just to add to the picture: One detail of Obama that I find really creepy is his obsession with DNA. In his March ’08 speech on race (that was supposed to be the greatest thing since Lincoln at Cooper Union, but which was utterly forgettable and is now all but forgotten), He said something to the effect that unifying people was “in my DNA”. He has made other DNA references. I’m convinced the guy is a racist, i.e., someone who fundamentally thinks in racial categories.

  2. I think he just think it makes him sound smart, and helps him contrast himself with oogedy-boogedy Creationists.

  3. Low On Prozac

I heard that BO used the word “I” something like 50 times in his speech today – excessive use of self-reference pronouns is another symptom of Narcissism.
