Chairman Zero took time out from his schemes to nationalize health care, bankin, and energy to whine about how unfair it was for him to be labeled a socialist. Taking time out to call a NY Times reporter and complain about being asked if his policies were socialist.
[Obama] dismissed the criticism, saying the large-scale government intervention in the markets and the expansion of social welfare programs had begun under his Republican predecessor, George W. Bush.
So what? That doesn’t make massive intervention and spending any less socialist. If you kiss a dude, it’s still gay even if some other dude did it first.
Between the market’s free-fall and Dear Leader’s touchiness about being called a socialist, this would be about the time a sane administration would begin talking up more market-friendly policies. But Chairman Zero, Rahm Emmanuel, and Nancy Pelosi are far too arrogant to do so. They’re way too invested in their philosophy of “The markets are wrong, the markets are bad, government has to make things right.”
Which is what socialism is.
