Great Moments in Transparency

That Was Then…

Obama promises “a new level of transparency, accountability and participation for America’s citizens…” November 7, 2008.

… This Is Now

“My position as nominee for President-elect Obama to serve as secretary of labor doesn’t, in my opinion, afford me the ability to provide you with an opinion at this time. That is something that I would like to discuss with you further, but something that I’m not prepared to make a statement about at this time.” – Obama Secretary of Labor Nominee Hilda Solis, when asked if she would support eliminating the right to a secret ballot in union elections, January 12, 2009.

Also, Obama Energy Adviser Carol Brownout was listed as recently as last month in the Socialist International website as a member of something called the “”Commission for a Sustainable World Society.” But the website has since sunk that information down the memory hole.

Difficult to reconcile evasion and obfuscation with promises to “run the most open and transparent government in history.”

Whoops! Another Obama campaign promise disappears
