Toward a New Unit for Measuring Political Incompetence

When Chris Matthews said it was his job to make Obama succeed, he was saying out loud what nearly all of the MSM had quietly vowed already. Up to a certain level of incompetence, they can probably cover for him.

I propose a new unit of measurement for political incompetence. Call it, “the Carter.” The Carter would be an aggregate of economic mismanagement, foreign policy that weakens the United States and strengthens our enemies, and public perception.

If the Obama administration is safe up to a level of about .9 Carters because the media can still cover for them. From .9 to about 1.2 Carters, Obama is vulnerable, but could still ride it out. From 1.2 to 1.5 Carters, his future becomes more cloudy. And no politician can survive above 1.5 Carters.

And America cannot survive beyond 2 Carters.
