Chairman Zero now claims he wants to cut Federal Spending by $2 Trillion. Granted, he doesn’t really mean it. He means $1 Trillion in tax increases coupled with $1 Trillion in “spending less than inflated projected increases in spending.” Government spending will continue to grow… and with his health care and welfare schemes, it will grow A LOT. But by pretending he was going to spend $19 Trillion over the next 4 years and *only* spending $18 Trillion, he’ll claim he made a cut.
But what I want to know is, if the economy was in such horrible shape that it needed nearly $800 Billion in stimulus… how can he afford to take $2 Trillion out of the economy? I thought the argument was that only Federal spending could get the economy out of recession? So, wouldn’t a $2 Trillion cut be a devastating blow to the economy?
Or have things changed drastically in the two weeks since the “Stimulus” was passed?
